Terrence Higgins Auction 2017

It’s my pleasure to have donated a very unique gift to this year’s Terrence Higgins Trust Charity Auction, which launched Christie’s in London last night.

The ultimate lot for the stylish chap – a limited edition ‘bespoke jacket in a box’. Each plush handcrafted leather box holds enough fabric and lining to cut a bespoke jacket.

The winner of the lot will simply book an appointment to be fitted for the jacket. He will receive British tailor Stephen Williams’ quintessential high level of personal service to choose style, fit and details such as stitching, buttons, monogramming and more.

The event is one of London’s most successful charity auctions and a night like no other that raises money to support people living with HIV.

The auction ends on 20th April 2017

The Sartorial Style of Thom Evans

Former rugby star Thom Evans is one of the sharpest dressers I have the pleasure of working with. Whether he’s sitting front row at a catwalk show or meeting his mates down the pub for a few beers on a Sunday, Thom always understands the importance of dressing to impress.

Below are a few snaps of Thom wearing bespoke garments I have made for him over the past twelve months.

Thom wears soft green Donegal cashmere, single-breasted jacket with flared cuff (£695)

Royal Ascot Suiting

Royal Ascot, the most anticipated event in the horse racing calendar, takes place from Tuesday 20th – Saturday 24th June. Five days of socialising, fine dining, style, and of course races!

Whilst eyes are certainly on the horses and jockeys, Royal Ascot is also synonymous with sartorial elegance.

The event upholds a strict dress code that requires men to wear black or grey morning dress in the Royal Enclosure. That includes waistcoat and tie, black or grey top hat and plain black shoes.

In the Queen Anne Enclosure men are required to wearing a matching suit with shirt and tie, whilst in Windsor Enclosure smart dress is encouraged.

There is a surprising amount of choice and personalisation you can bring to this traditional attire to make you stand out from the crowd. Believe me, wearing such a suit makes you feel so special that it can only add to a great day out. It did with mine last year!

Whilst, rugby star Thom Evans (below) set hearts racing when he wore bespoke Stephen Williams London to ladies day at last year’s Cheltenham Festival.

For Royal Ascot 2017, in addition to my bespoke service, I will be offering a ready-to-wear tailcoat, waistcoat and dress trousers that can be purchased or hired for your day at the races.

The black tailcoat with blue contrast stitching features my signature lining in black with white crest (pictured right), a Prince of Wales check double-breasted waistcoat, and striped dress trousers.

Attitude Magazine – May 2017

Attitude Magazine – May 2017

Attitude Magazine features Stephen Williams London in its ‘Wedding Checklist’ as the recommend tailoring service.

Your wedding gives you the perfect excuse to indulge in a bespoke suit that will ensure you look and feel the part on the big day. You’ll both look amazing in a Stephen Williams London bespoke two-piece suit from £950 or three-piece from £1,100.’

Bespoke Wedding Suits

Your wedding gives you the perfect excuse to indulge in a bespoke suit that will ensure you look and feel the part on your big day.

My design studio offers a personalised service that allows unique and memorable details such as a custom printed lining, that could match the colour of the flowers, your partner’s favourite colour or even design elements taken from your invitation.

Colour can also be used in contrast stitching, flash inserts or buttons to make it stand out from a typical suit; whilst having the date embroidered on your garment means you will never forget your anniversary!

Alternatively, why not embroider your names or a message inside the jacket. I once had a client ask me to embroider the statement ‘I give it a year’!

The variations are endless and a more contemporary cut and fabric can be perfect for the big day, and guarantee you will be able to wear it again and again.

The whole process of having a garment designed should be part of the celebration, an experience to treasure and enjoy as you indulge in the luxury world of bespoke suiting.

A trend I’ve noticed over the past 12 months is the increased number of men opting for a white, ecru or ivory dinner jacket, as seen most recently on the 2017 Golden Globes red carpet worn by Ryan Gosling.

Paired with black dinner trousers, white evening shirt, and bow tie; this bold look, if executed correctly, is guaranteed to create the wow factor!

Humphrey Bogart sported this iconic look in the classic 1942 movie Casablanca, as have numerous James Bond’s and other leading men throughout the years.

I recommend a Super 120s merino wool, cashmere, or mohair cloth with a shawl collar and covered buttons. A flared or cut-away cuff and subtle printed lining with matching pocket square will add the element of personalised perfection.
